Chronology of cameras Burke and James

The Rexoette boxes are products manufactured by Burke & James from the 1910s onwards.
Nothing sets them apart from the productions of that time. However, the finishing appears to be extremely meticulous, as indicated by the presentation text of the Rexoette N° 2A in the 1923 Omnium-Photo catalog.

Five formats are available:

Model   Size

Rexoette No.2 6 x 9
Rexoette No.2A   6,5 x 11
Rexoette No.2C   7,25 x 12,5
Rexoette No.3   8 x 10,5
Rexoette No.3A   8 x 14
__________

This is a simple 6 x 9 box, but with an extremely meticulous construction rarely encountered in this type of camera. The body is carefully assembled and blackened wood, and since the film door is of the same construction, the whole gives a camera much larger than a stamped metal box.

Covered with coated canvas imitating leather, it bears no markings except for the embossed name "Rexoette" on the thick leather of the handle.

There is only one shutter speed and bulb mode. The three apertures are holes on a metal slider. The two viewfinders are reflex with an image on ground glass. There is no tripod nut.
